Campaigns

Organizing is central to our work. We have organized immigrant parents to improve the education of their children in our neighborhood. We organized to bring new school to Sunset Park and reduce overcrowding (Make Space for Schools), we organized forums to ensure the Department of Education takes into account the voices of immigrant parents when designing public schools (New School Design Forums) and led a campaign to ensure public funds are used to fund public schools (not carter schools) (Keep Public Schools Public). We have also engaged our neighbors to gather ideas for the use of a public space that served as interim library so that the space remained in the hands of the community (Coalition for Community Space). Currently, we are organizing street vendors to change the policies that regulate street vending and improve relationships with the police (Street Vendors of Sunset Park Campaign).
