Arte Itinerante is a project that uses art to generate dialogue among Sunset Park residents. The project’s design was a mobile art classroom that could be transported from one location to another to offer art workshops that were accessible to all. The idea of a mobile art classroom comes from Latin American and Asia traditions where people use makeshift carts that move from one place to another to sell all sorts of items. Following that tradition, Arte Itinerante allows passers-by to create an art piece and serve as a safe space for the community to express their views and engage in dialogue through art.
